Our Mission
Real Enneagram Test exists to give everyone access to deep, meaningful personality insight — for free, forever, with no strings attached. No account. No paywall. No data harvesting. Just honest, rigorous self-discovery.
We built the only free tool that combines the Enneagram personality framework with attachment style theory in a single, coherent test. Because neither framework tells the full story alone.
Why We Built This
Most free personality tests are shallow — they give you a label and call it done. Paid tests lock the good stuff behind a $30 PDF. And the few tests that go deep only cover one framework at a time.
We kept running into the same frustration: the Enneagram tells you what drives you, but it doesn't explain how you behave in close relationships. Attachment theory fills that gap — but no one had combined them into a single, free, well-designed experience.
So we built it ourselves.

The Frameworks We Use
The Enneagram is a personality system describing nine core types, each defined by a fundamental motivation, deepest fear, and characteristic way of moving through the world. It has roots in contemplative psychology and has been developed and validated by researchers including Don Richard Riso, Russ Hudson, and the Enneagram Institute. Unlike trait-based models, the Enneagram focuses on the why behind behavior — making it unusually useful for personal growth.
Attachment theory was originally developed by John Bowlby and expanded by Mary Ainsworth, whose Strange Situation studies identified distinct patterns in how children relate to caregivers. Later research by Hazan and Shaver (1987) mapped these patterns into adult romantic relationships, identifying four adult attachment styles: Secure, Anxious-Preoccupied, Dismissive-Avoidant, and Fearful-Avoidant. Your attachment style shapes how you approach intimacy, handle conflict, and regulate emotion in relationships.
Who Built This
Real Enneagram Test was built by an independent team with backgrounds in psychology and software development. We are not a research institution or a therapy platform — we are people who found both frameworks genuinely useful in our own lives and wanted to make a version that was free, well-designed, and completely private.
The test questions and scoring methodology draw on the published frameworks of Riso & Hudson (Enneagram) and the adult attachment research of Hazan & Shaver and Bartholomew & Horowitz. We update the methodology and question set periodically as the research evolves.
